Sheet Cake
Debra New's famous cake. Natasha loved this one when she was in high school.
Ingredients| 1 stick | oleo |
| 1/2 C | shortening |
| 1 C | water |
| 4 T | cocoa |
| 2 C | sugar |
| 2 C | flour |
| 1/2 C | buttermilk |
| 1 t | soda |
| 2 | eggs beaten |
| 1 | t vanilla |
| 1/4 t | salt |
| FROSTING | |
| 1 | stick butter |
| 4 T | cocoa |
| 1/3 C | milk |
| 1 lb | powdered sugar |
| 1 t | vanilla |
| 1 C | chopped nuts |
Preparation
Bring
to a boil the oleo, shortening, water and cocoa. Sift sugar and
flour together and add to boiled mixture. Add buttermilk and
soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix.
Pour
on buttered cookie sheet and bake 20 min at 400 degrees.
Start icing 5 minutes before cake is finished baking. Bring to a rolling boil: 1 stick butter, 4 T cocoa, 1/3 C milk. Remove from heat and add 1 lb. powdered sugar, 1 t vanilla, 1 C chopped nuts. Ice while hot.
